Mini Book Tour!

I just returned from a trip to Tennessee/Georgia to perform with my metal belly dance troupe, the Corpsewax Dollies. While I was there, the coordinator of the troupe was kind enough to set up a mini book tour for me!

Around the show and rehearsal, I conducted two Writing & Trauma workshops and two book signings. It made for a whirlwind weekend but all very good things.

I have now done my Writing & Trauma workshop four times, with two more currently scheduled in upcoming months. Every time, I am pleasantly surprised with how much the concepts resonate with people and how the attendees open up. Each workshop has been in a different location with a variety of people, and yet there is this commonality.

The underlying current seems that we are all hurting and looking for a way to work through it and find community in it.

In Georgia, I did a workshop session and a signing at Book & Barrel. This bookstore (and bar/cafe) is a liberal oasis in this small, Bible belt town. A great community space with good reads and good drink. The workshop was well attended by a very sweet crowd.

In Tennessee, I did a reading and signing at The Reading Room. I wish this place had been open when I lived right down the street! It is like someone turned my brain into a bar. It has the floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, church pews, and upholstery of an library. I could languish there indefinitely.

I appreciate the hospitality I received all weekend. My works are now spreading their horrors down in the South.
